SAFETY TIP

180px-Extension_cord.jpg

Tips for extension cord safety

Even when exposed to normal use, extension cords will experience wear and deterioration. Inspect cords often. Damaged or worn cords should be replaced. Do not attempt to repair with duct or electrical tape. Never remove prongs from a plug.  Keep cords out of traffic paths and away from areas where children play. Be careful not to pinch cords behind furniture or against a wall. Do not run extension cords under carpets or across doorways. When using extension cords outdoors, be certain they are rated for the application and they are plugged into a GFCI protected outlet.

COOPERATIVE PRINCIPLES IN ACTION

JS-safety.jpgKM-warehouse-web.jpgvisit2-web.jpg

Cooperatives like BREC provide education and training for their members, elected representatives, managers, and employees so they can contribute effectively to the development of their cooperatives. They inform the general public, particularly young people and opinion leaders, about the nature and benefits of cooperation.  The pictures above show kindergarteners receiving a lesson on electrical safety, FFA members learning about the co-op business model and co-op directors and managers discussing issues important to cooperative members and the rural way of life with State Senator Kevin Engler (center).

Having an informed membership is important to cooperatives.  Education, Information & Training, a cooperative principle that is put to use everyday at BREC.  Now that’s the cooperative difference!
