No Deposit. No Late Fees. No Due Date. No Monthly Statements. You Choose When & How Much Electricity to Purchase.
BREC Prepay program is changing the way people pay for their electricity. It puts you in the account management driver’s seat. Buying electricity like we buy gasoline, BEFORE we use it, allows members to ditch deposits, due dates and late fees.
Life happens. We know paychecks and billing cycles don’t always match. Prepay gives you the flexibility to manage your budget better by making smaller more frequent payments when it’s right for your budget instead of a single, larger payment by a fixed due date. Also, Prepay makes you more aware of your energy consumption, helping you manage your usage.
How It Works.
All Members, whether new or existing, must come into a BREC office to complete a Prepay application. Once the application is approved, a minimum of $50 is deposited on the account and service is established, you’re good to go. You go about life as usual. (New members must also provide a $25 membership fee and $15 service charge.) When your account balance runs low, you will receive an alert by text or email (your choice) letting you know.
You can track your daily usage and recharge your account from the comfort of your home through BREC’s Smarthub online payment portal with a credit/debit card or electronic check. You can also pay with cash/credit or debit card/electronic check at any BREC office during normal business hours or at a BREC payment kiosk near you. Click here for payment locations.
If your prepaid balance runs out, the service is automatically disconnected. To reconnect, simply add money to your balance and your service will be reactivated within the hour and ready for you to reconnect with a push of a button at your meter. No reconnect fees are charged.
