BREC Board of Directors President Gary Cook (left) presents Harold Jordan with a commemorative meter in recognition of his decades of service.

Jordan retires from BREC Board

Black River Electric Cooperative Director Harold Jordan, was recognized in July by the co-op’s Board of Directors, upon his retirement from the cooperative’s governing body. For forty-two years, Jordan, of Arcadia, was there for all the tough calls.   He worked through issues on rates, policy and operations and actively participated in some of the most important power supply decisions of a generation.
During his career, Mr. Jordan was actively engaged in state and national legislative issues which impacted BREC and its members.  In all things, and at all times, he kept the best interests of co-op members in mind.  His stewardship, leadership, dedication and service to the members of BREC was truly remarkable.
However, one of the important tenets of cooperative governance, requires directors to be fulltime residential members.  Mr. Jordan’s planned moved off cooperative’s lines in August, prohibited him from continuing his service to BREC members.
The Board of Directors will appoint a member in BREC’s western district to fill the remainder of Mr. Jordan’s term.  We wish Harold and his wife Edna, all the best and would like to express our deepest gratitude for his service to the cooperative and its members.
